Event Description
(provided by race organizer)The swim will be in the warm shallow freshwater QE2 lake set within the park grounds. The bike route will take you out of the Museum grounds along to the coastal route through Widdrington Village, before sweeping onto the coast and along to the beautiful Cresswell village with some breath-taking views along the coastline.
We are expecting a ‘sell out’ event attracting a top-quality field and a wide range of abilities. It will be fabulous again. If you are a first timer or new to the sport, there’s no need to be concerned about entering. We look after everyone regardless and will be with you all the way around the course. It’s fun and accessible for all ages and abilities to take part in, and you can be assured that there will be plenty of other competitors of a similar ability to you taking part.
The Warmseal Woodhorn triathlon is located within the stunning grounds of Woodhorn Museum and QE2 country Park which is at the start of the beautiful Coastal route of Northumberland. Woodhorn Museum is a Scheduled Ancient monument and here you can discover over 800 years of history and a range of fantastic events, activities and exhibits for all the family. The Woodhorn Museum is situated on the edge of the QE2 Country Park which boasts a 16-hectare shallow, freshwater lake.
The QE2 Country Park is surrounded by woodland and open grasslands. The beautiful seaside fishing village of Newbiggin is only 2miles away, the fish n’ chips are a must! The historic Warkworth Castle is 10 miles, or you could just visit the beautiful Northumberland coastal villages along the coastline, taking in all that Northumberland has to offer. Newcastle city centre is approximately 14 miles South.
It is a unique, stunning location for the Warmseal Woodhorn triathlon, and it has everything you need to make this a superb family day out!
The Warmseal Woodhorn Museum Triathlon is one of only a few events in the country to have attained the Triathlon England 3 Star Mark of Quality. This is a great achievement for the event team, and we pride ourselves on this and our continuing efforts to improve the standard of events in the North East Region.
