Hi Paul, it looks so. It seems the bike track is completely different in the latest information. I have contacted the organisers but still waiting for written confirmation. The do not react as quick as we wish… Have also a look at the start time. It seems we won’t be able to warm up just before our start time. Well, here is my feedback about the very bad experience in Pamplona this weekend.
I took the latest bus option which was at 10:30 am. This means that we are at T1 at around 11:15. No other options available for later arrival.
From there, we had to prepare all the staff, wait for the Pro Series Swimming and then warm up just a bit in the water before 13:15.
At 13:15 we must stay in front of our bike inside the T1 until our start time (13:50 for Aquabike). All triathletes first, including open and all Age Groups.
We finally could enter into the water at 13:56. So, image being under the sun at 31°C during more than 40min with the neoprene and no hydration, nothing available and no shadow anywhere. I was totally dehydrated when I started.
Even after the Swimming, no available water to drink before the bike.
In the water, you can imagine how difficult is to Swimming overtaking hundreds of swimmers…
During the bike, only 2 stations (km 25 and 50) to take cold water. It was not enough for those hot conditions.
But, the worst came when finishing. I arrive first at Pamplona at 16:30 but the staff did not bring the our boxes with our clothes. They arrived at around 18:30 but we had to wait also to the other boxes with our neoprenes at around 18:50. So, we were in T2 standing and fully exhausted for 2,5h. Totally unacceptable.
If there is no official championship in Pamplona I will never go again.
