Schedule was changed several times without giving notice. Race course change on Wednesday without giving notice. In the morning I was informed that the swim start times had been changed by one of the race marshalls coincidentaly. After the race our Team manager told us that the ceremony will be at 15:30, not at 17:15. We informed whoever we could but still many missed the ceremony.
    Organization was a mess.
    Swim course good.
Bike course: too many cyclists for that course in such a short time. Lots of blocking. Business as usual in Spain.
Finish line experience: at least there was one though it appeared that it was provided for FinisherPix to sell more fotos…

My first European champs and oveall good. Liked the swim course, great setting at Lake Banyoles. Bike course with closed roads good, but tough in heat, and busy with 2 way traffic. Could have been at least one more water station given the heat. Race organisation very frustrating, timings kept changing. Swim start time brought forward 25 mins on race morning, and a few athletes missed their wave so were DSQ. Nice to get a medal and good backpack but a finisher T shirt would have been good too.

Swim was in the phenomenal lake and wetsuit free given the high temperature and humidity. It was worth going for this alone.
The Bike Course was challenging with the amount of climbing but also very difficult given the amount of bike traffic on the course. The Northern leg with its sharp and snaking descents was dangerous with that amount of bike traffic on it and there were crashes sadly.
The amount of speed bumps through the town- and also around the far roundabout on the Northern leg of the and around the lake made any faster sections where TT mode could be engaged impossible as every 200yds you needed to be on the drops to get over them safely.
The feedstation nearest Transition actually ran out of water half way through the Bike leg- not ideal when temperatures touched 36deg!
The finish-line experience was in doubt until the morning of the race- as in at one point he Aquabike weren’t even going to be allowed to run under the arch!
Sounds like plenty of criticism there but I still found it a great day and one I’d worked hard to achieve.
