The new (and last) Leader of Men´s Aquabike Ranking Europe

Well… actually we only include races in Europe for the Aquabike Ranking Europe. However, it´s a World Championship. So we decided to include the first ever Standard Distance Aquabike World Championships in the rankings. It´s the first race outside Europe that´s included in the Aquabike Ranking Europe. And it will also be the last. Because Aquabike Ranking Europe will come to an end by the end of the year. But there´s no reason to be sad. Because something better is coming up…

Number 1!

But first of all we should celebrate the new and final #1 of the Aquabike Ranking Europe. The women´s race at the World´s in Abu Dhabi brought a clear win by the big favourite and leader of the ranking Amy Pritchard. So there were no changes in the top ranks of the women´s rankings.

The situation in the men´s rankings is quite different though. With all other athletes from the top 10 being absent, a 12th place was enough to take the lead for

Victor SÁNCHEZ GARCÍA

So he is the first and last aquabike athlete from Spain to take the lead in the Aquabike Ranking Europe. Chapeau Victor!

Just as the World Championships in Abu Dhabi (see our race report) it also shows in our rankings that the male part of the aquabike community became a bit more international than the female one. While the women´s ranking was always lead by British athletes since we introduced the ranking a year ago, we had leaders from five different countries (Belgium, Austria, Germany, UK and Spain) in the men´s rankings. Great to see the aquabike community growing across all borders!

If you want to take one last look at the Aquabike Ranking Europe you can check it out here. It won´t be there for very much longer. Because something bigger and better is coming up. You might have a guess?
