Ever come away from a race, shiny medal in hand (or not), and found yourself wondering how hard it really was to get that medal?
That’s where Competition Score (CS) comes in.
CS shows how strong the competition in a race was, and allows you to more accurately compare your finish position between races.
What is Competition Score (CS)?
Every race attracts a different selection of athletes, and coming first in one race doesn’t necessarily take the same skill as coming first in another.
CS allows you to compare races by showing how strong the competition was in a race.
How Does it Work?
CS is a score from 0 to 100, done separately for both men and women. It’s calculated using the average of the top ten finishers in the category.
For example, if the top ten female aquabikers were to all race in the same race, and give their usual performances, the women’s CS for that race would be 100.
What Filters Can I Apply to the CS of a Race?
You cannot only see the CS for men and women in a race, but for each age group, and in international races, for each country (or in US events, for each state, if this information has been provided).
If an age group, or country, has less than 10 participants, the CS is correspondingly lower.
How Do I See the CS?
CS is only available for Aquabike.World premium users. If you’re not yet a Premium Member, you can upgrade here anytime and find out more about the benefits of this membership.
Here’s an Example …
Here’s the CS from the 2024 World Standard Aquabike Championships in Torremolinos.
This shows the women’s race was slightly more competitive than the men’s, with the women’s 30-34 years age group yielding the most competitive field.

Looking at the CS variation between countries, the competition within the UK female athletes was greatest. For male athletes, the greatest competition was within the Spanish team.

Which races have had the highest CS?
Here are the races with the highest CS for males and females, in 2025 and overall on Aquabike.World. Quite a mix of races drawing the strongest competition!
