Last May long term leader of the Aquabike.World women’s ranking Monika Lukens has been pushed off the top spot of the podium by Eleanore Nash but regained her position only one week later. Though this time it looks like the new leader will stay up there for a little longer.
After major events, there are naturally always a few more shifts in the rankings. But the new #1 was not a participant in last week’s standard distance world championships in Wollongong, Australia.

One of the last big races of the season in Europe was the ICAN Triathlon Gandia last weekend. The half distance race attracted more than 100 participants, but it was the full distance race, where the new #1 in the women’s ranking shined.
With a brilliant performance
Kerry HICKSON
took a clear win in the women’s race, with only one man crossing the finish line ahead of her. After two wins in big races in England and a second place at the full distance race at Challenge Almere, her win in Spain gives her a total of 2541 points and a quite comfortable lead in the women’s ranking.
Chapeau Kerry!
I hope we’ll see her again in some big races in 2026. Since she’s qualified for the standard distance world’s in Pontevedra, this might be her first appearance in an international championship.
