In todays review of the 2022 aquabike season we take a look at the most active and most successful aquabike athletes of the year. With a much bigger choice of races it´s not a surprise that the athletes with the most races and also with the most wins in 2022 came from the United States and Great Britain. The athletes who raced the most in terms of racing distance however do not come from any of those countries.

With nine races in one season Elizabeth Engler was the most active female aquabike athlete in 2022. With five sprints, three standard and one half distance race she raced a total of 315 km. As you can see in the table above the most active women aquabikers all came from the US and UK, with one Aussie girl mixing it up a little bit. But you won´t find the women who raced the most distancewise in 2022. Ainara Benavente Babace did “only” four aquabike races this season. But with two of them being full distance and two more half distance events she raced a total of 521 km, more than an other female athlete.

Different statistic, same result. Nine victories out of nine race participations. Wow, Chapeau Elizabeth Engler! No other female athlete could get close to that. But with six wins Joanne Salaz and Monika Lukens have certainly also well deserved to be mentioned.

10 race finishes from Mark Yeoman brought him the title of the most active male aqubike athlete in 2022. With all of them being standard distance races, he raced a total of 417 km. Not bad – but that wasn´t even close to the longest racing distance. At the age of 64 Spanish aquabike athlete Angel Fernandez Martinez finished two full distance and no less than seven half distance races last year, making it a total of 980 km of aquabike racing. More than double than the second man in this statistics – absolutely brilliant!

With nine wins in a row Mark Yeoman seemed to be unbeatable last year – until the very last race where he had to settle for second place. So his 2022 statistics might not be immaculate, but absolutely impressive nevertheless. With no doubt nine victories in one year is absolutely outstanding. Chapeau Mark! Meanwhile on the other side of the Atlatic it was Timothy Rogers who scored seven win out of seven races and certainly should not remain unmentioned here.
Huge congratulations to all aquabike race winners last season!
